President's Message

For the very first time, our alumni association got involved in fundraising for a non- profit organization. On July 16, 2005, 29 alumni and friends formed a team and participated in the "Big Bike for Stroke". We were proud to have raised a total of $5,090 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. We were the 1st runner up of the Team Fundraising championship. As for the individual fundraising championship, Jane Yuan came in 2nd and raised $1040; what a way to go! We thank all the alumni and friends who participated, as well as all the sponsors. We have confidence that we will be the champion next time!

A total of 10 alumni and their spouses attended Ms. Sylvia Lam and Mr. C. C. Chan's 80th birthday party/reunion in Calgary on the Canada Day weekend. We wish to thank Ms. Lam, Mr. Chan, Thomas To, the president of the Calgary chapter, all the alumni in Calgary for their hospitality. Our summer issue of the newsletter was presented to them as a gift from the Ontario chapter.

Another successful BBQ picnic was held on August 13 of this year. Rev Fung's prayer was answered. A day, forecasted to be rainy, turned out to be a perfectly dry one ! A big thanks to the group of "chefs" who worked so hard to feed almost 100 people with delicious cuisine. The overwhelming attendance is really encouraging. It looks like we would need to book the whole area of the park next year.

Our biannual newsletter continues to be a most popular publication. We are delighted to receive good reviews from alumni in Ontario as well as overseas. This is not possible without everybody's support. Special thanks go to the Vancouver chapter whose members have continuously supported us both financially and by submitting articles.

I have to praise all the committee members for their dedication and hard work. You have indeed made the alumni association stands strong.

I sincerely urge all alumni to participate and get involved. We need your help to make our association stronger and better

Lastly, I would like to wish all of you a very happy holiday. Do watch out for more exciting events in the coming year!
