President¡¦s Message

Happy Anniversary!

We are pleased to announce that the publication of the St. Mark¡¦s Alumni Association (Ontario) Newsletter is approaching its 10th great year. As stated on our website, ¡¥¡K..During the past decade, our Newsletter has grown from a simple single-page publication about a small group of St. Markans in Ontario, to a biannual newsletter on the web about the lives and experiences of alumni across Canada and beyond ¡K¡¦. The success of the newsletter is attributed to the amazing articles and photos sent to us by alumni from Canada and all over the world. We would like to thank the extra effort put in by Allison Chan (Ng How Sheung) '62, the Editor, and her Editorial committee during the past 10 years.

It was a great thrill and surprise for me when I was unexpectedly contacted by my old school pal, Andrew On-cho Ng '70, recently through our website. We have lost contact for over 35 years. Our reunion not only brought back a lot of excellent memories of my life at St. Mark's, but it also emphasizes the immense versatility of our website. On-cho, now residing in New York, would like to celebrate the 10th anniversary by sharing a scholarly article with the rest of us. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who regularly visit our website, http://www.stmarksalumni.ca.  I hope it has been a valuable resource for everyone to stay connected and updated with our association.

I would like to congratulate our mother school for the outstanding academic results achieved by its students. With such excellent news, there is no reason for us not to believe that St. Mark's is now being regarded as one of the top secondary schools in Hong Kong. I sincerely hope the students will continue to possess a never-ending spirit of learning and continue to achieve high levels of academic success.

The St. Mark's Day celebration luncheon was successfully held on April 28. There were more than 90 alumni and family members in attendance. We were happy to meet some new faces and we look forward to their continued support and participation.

The annual BBQ Picnic, which took place on Saturday, August 11, was another successful event of the year. Alumni and family members enjoyed a day with beautiful weather, delicious homemade food and fun games at Milne Dam Conservation Park in Markham. I would like to thank all the alumni who helped organize the picnic and prepare food for everyone to enjoy.

I would like to extend a big thanks to all the alumni, family members and friends who shared articles and photos with us for this special 10th anniversary edition. The Board of Directors is truly grateful for everyone's tremendous level of support.

I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe winter.
